The perpetual lie of no new taxes
The popularly held belief that New Hampshire is “tax free” is only true for the wealthy and big corporations. The manta of "no new taxes" is a smokescreen that obscures the "downshifting" of State funding to ever increasing local property taxes.
For the average citizen, the State’s failure to properly fund their financial obligations from appropriate sources is no longer tenable. Small town budgets are at a breaking point and this failure is a major contributor to the affordability crisis affecting our State.
I believe reversing the giveaways to powerful business interests and the privileged few is essential to restoring a fair and functional way of life for all New Hampshire residents.

Education Freedom Accounts, sold as a resource for students from families of modest means, has turned out to be a wealth rebate for those who are already in private and religious schools. This poorly managed program is moving upwards of $100 million tax-payer dollars out of the Education Trust Fund and into the pockets of the rich.

The Legislature seems to have a standing reduction of the Business Enterprise Tax on the docket for every session. Millions of dollars in funding have been abandoned to special interest large businesses, mostly based outside New Hampshire.
It is time to end the charade that the State's tax obligation can forever be pushed down to property tax payers alone. Eventually, the grown-ups in the room need to stop lying to the citizenry and perform their legislative duties.
